Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
Wonderful Happenings at Waratah PS!

Hands On Learning
4/5S have been revisiting fractions this week in maths lessons. They did lots of hands on learning, from cutting up fruit to sorting themselves onto a number line. Learning in this way is not only fun, but gives everyone the opportunity to justify their thinking and devlop their reasoning skills. Look at those smiles!

Friday Fun
On Friday 26th September, a staff versus stage 3 Dodgball Game took place for some end of term fun! The whole school was out showing their support and it was a fabulous event. Unfortunate;y the students went down 6 games to zero! Everyone played with enthusiasm and great sportsmanship.

Amazing Public Speaking Success
This week, one of our fabulous kinder students competed in the Hunter Inter School Public Speaking Competition at Hillsborough PS.
He won the event. Super effort!

Stage 1 Transport Excursion
Recently our stage one (Year 1 &2) classes journeyed around Newcastle on their log-awaited excursion. Trains, buses, ferries, lightrail and lots of walking. The day included a specially delivered lunch in the park at Stockton. A Great day was had by all!

Stage 2 Camp
Stage 2 had an amazing time at Pt Wolstoncroft camp just a few weeks ago. Kids were able to kayak, bushwalk, cook damper over a fire, learn archery and much more. Amazing fun, great food and an excellent location.

Spelling Bee
This term we had two students participating in the regional finals of the NSW Premier's Spelling Bee. Our Senior School Champion, Ryan has now qualified for state finals in Sydney next term. Waratah are very proud of his success!
